"The surreal paintings of Ramaz
Razmadze are thought-provoking portals into the visionary world of his
imagination. Depending on the viewer, his art may be described as
enlightening or frightening, ridiculous or sublime. Razmadze creates
surreal paintings while maintaining a realistic manner of painting. His
art technique reflects the mysterious world of surreal compositions,
characters and situations, while his realistic manner of painting makes
"unreal" compositions and objects seem "real." Viewers often wonder if the
artist is subconsciously depicting himself in his paintings. He works in a
variety of mediums including oil, gouache, watercolor and ink. Born in
Tbilisi, Georgia, he was educated at the Georgia State Technical
University, attended the Academy of Fine Arts at Tbilisi, and is a member
of the Artist's Union of Georgia. He studied drawing and oil painting at
the studio of well-known Georgian artist Makhare Janelidze and worked as
Janelidze's assistant. He has had both solo and group exhibitions in
Georgia and the United Kingdom. He has a current trade exhibition at the
Monkey House Studio in Toronto, Canada (through 2007) and has been
approved to participate in the 2003 Florence Biennial in
Italy." "The paintings delight in self-expression. There exists a cadence of color, energy, and a spontaneous exuberance for the medium that is captivating and visually exciting. The surrealist, organic and instinctive shapes, fluid and visceral in presentation, reveal a heightened understanding of structure and composition to express emotional appeal. Wonderful work." |
